Después de Lima, La Libertad se ha convertido en el departamento en el que se produce mayor número de muertes por accidentes de tránsito. De acuerdo al Observatorio Nacional de Seguridad Vial, en lo que va de 2025, 1,097 personas perdieron la vida en 944 siniestros, que dejaron 925 heridos.
A nivel nacional, la entidad oficial reporta 11,325 fallecidos y 10,826 accidentes registrados. En el Cusco, se contabilizan 968 muertes y 964 heridos como consecuencia de 837 accidentes. En Arequipa, los siniestros ascienden a 775, con un saldo de 946 fallecidos y 1,246 lesionados.
En Puno se registraron 851 accidentes en lo que va del año, con 913 heridos. Cajamarca, por su parte, registra 547 accidentes, que dejaron 669 fallecidos y 645 heridos.
En Piura hubo, hasta el momento, 488 accidentes, con 533 muertes y 476 lesionados. Asimismo, en Ica, los accidentes ascendieron a 510, con un saldo de 516 fallecidos y 614 heridos.
En Junín se registraron 465 accidentes, con un saldo de 508 fallecidos y 619 heridos; en Áncash, los 360 siniestros ocurridos dejaron 471 muertes. Por su parte, en Lambayeque se produjeron 347 accidentes, que ocasionaron 362 decesos y 460 lesionados.
En Huancavelica, los 186 accidentes reportados derivaron en 346 fallecidos y 383 heridos, mientras que en Ayacucho se contabilizan 205 siniestros, con 302 muertes y 539 lesionados. Finalmente, en San Martín se registraron 281 accidentes, con 299 fallecidos y 260 heridos.
Lima y Callao
La capital peruana es la jurisdicción con mayor número de accidentes y víctimas: 2,164 fallecidos en 2,494 siniestros, mientras que en el Callao se registraron 517 accidentes, con 158 muertes y 123 heridos.
